Arthur Rezendes, 69, of Fall River, long-time companion of Jorgelina Cote and former husband of Ana (DeSousa) Moniz, passed away peacefully on Saturday at Sarah Brayton Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Serafin M. and Maria P. (Silva) Resendes. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a machine operator in the local textile industry. Arthur loved gardening, cooking, and family gatherings. He also enjoyed traveling, particularly to his birth place, Agua Retorta in the Azores. Besides his companion of nineteen years, he leaves: his son, Rodney Rezendes and his companion Sydney Medeiros of Fall River; seven grandchildren, Aiden Rezendes, Sydnee Rezendes, Ashton Rezendes, Calan Rezendes, Devin Sanders, Desmond Sanders, and Darnell Sanders; one great-grandchild, Lily Sanders; his sister, Mary Lou Rezendes of Fall River; three brothers, Frank Resendes and his wife Grace of North Dartmouth, Armand Rezendes and his wife Tessie and Louis Resendes and his companion Doreen Gilligan of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, December 29th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
