Attorney Thomas DiRuzza, 93, of Manchester, CT, beloved husband of the late Mary (Progana) DiRuzza died on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Tom was born in Fontana Liri, Italy, son of the late Antonio and Antonia DiRuzza. He immigrated to the United States in March of 1939 settling in Fall River. He graduated from Providence College in 1943 and entered the United States Army. He served in the European Theater as an infantryman. Thomas was a fluent speaker of both Italian and French and was assigned to a repatriation team in Grenoble, France after the war. Upon his return he enrolled and graduated from Boston University Law School in 1957. He began his professional career as a corporate attorney for Travelers Life Insurance and later became the Clerk of the Connecticut Superior Court until his retirement. Tom is survived by his brother, Santi DiRuzza of Fall River; his nephew, Barry DiRuzza and his wife Jo Dee of Charlotte, NC; his niece, Catherine Ellis and her husband Edward of Fall River, and their families. His funeral was held in Manchester on Thursday, June 30th, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bridget Church followed by his committal with military honors at East Cemetery.
