Born in New Bedford, son of the late Augustine L. Medeiros and the late Helen (Souza) Medeiros, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. He had worked for many years as an auto mechanic, retiring from A & A Auto of Fairhaven.
Father of the late Leslie Medeiros formerly of Swansea, he is survived by: his wife, Mary Sue (Tharp) Medeiros of Westport; his sons, Brian Medeiros (wife Ann Marie) of Fall River, Darren Medeiros (fiancée Malinda Moniz) of Dartmouth; step-children, Stephanie Perry (companion Dave Oliveira) of Fall River and John Perry, Jr. of Westport; grandchildren, Tyler, Zoie, Fallon, and Lucas; a large extended family, and many friends.
A kind and generous soul, Gus was always willing to help. He received the Marian Medal from the Fall River Diocese in 2018, as a St. Anne's Parish member, in recognition for his dedicated service to the church.
Gus was a loyal and loving family-man, who enjoyed reading, watching sports, and performing his charitable work as president of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He is loved, missed, and will always be remembered.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, October 7th, in Our Lady of Grace Church followed by his committal at Beech Grove Cemetery both in Westport.
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of this pandemic or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Augustine's memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Anne's Chapter, Attn: Claudette Leduc, 163 Cambridge St., Fall River, MA 02721.
