Augusto de Almeida, 90, of Fall River, husband of Arminda (Melo) Almeida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Phillip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Born in Casal Vasco, Fornos de Algodres, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio and Maximina de Almeida. A very talented and skilled carpenter, who could build a home from the foundation up, he worked for Albert Medeiros Construction for many years prior to his retirement. An avid gardener, he enjoyed tending to his grapevines, fig trees, vegetable garden, and making his own wine. He also raised rabbits and fed all the neighborhood's stray cats. Besides his wife, he leaves: his two daughters, Mary Lou Carvalho and her husband, Antonio, of East Providence, and Mary Senra (late husband, Paul) of Westport; two grandchildren, Nelson Carvalho and his wife,Rachel, and P.J. Senra; two great-granddaughters, Skyla Carvalho and Payton Carvalho; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Jose Carlos Almeida and the brother of the late Antonio de Almeida. His funeral was private.
