Obituary

Barbara A. (Oliveira) Silva, 72, of Fall River, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Fall River to the late James and Regina (Medeiros) Oliveira, Barbara's life was deeply rooted in the SouthCoast community she cherished. She resided in both Fall River and Tiverton, where she and her family shared countless memories at a home they owned by the waters of Fogland Beach—a place that always brought her peace and joy.

A proud graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Hearts, Barbara went on to dedicate more than 40 years of service to the Southcoast Health System. She was a loyal and hardworking employee, admired by colleagues for her unwavering dedication and warm spirit.

Barbara had a thoughtful and giving nature that touched everyone she knew. She delighted in finding just the right gifts for her loved ones, always wrapping her thoughtfulness in ways that showed how deeply she cared. Beyond her career, she had a lifelong love for shopping and fashion, a flair for style that matched her vibrant personality. She also treasured day trips, weekend getaways with friends, and time spent laughing and sharing stories with those she held dear.

Her greatest pride and joy, however, was her family. She was the devoted mother of her daughters, Kerry Gagnon, and the late Lori Carvalho, and the cherished mother-in-law of Kerry's husband, Jameson Gagnon. She was the beloved "Grammy" to five adoring grandchildren—Evan, Olivia, William, Mia, and Madison—each of whom she adored beyond measure. She never missed a chance to brag about their accomplishments, big or small, and was happiest when surrounded by their love and laughter. They will always remember her kisses and hugs, her proud smile, and the way she made them feel like the most important person in the world. Barbara will also be missed by her precious dog, Ollie, who was her faithful companion, filling her days with comfort and joy.

Barbara will be remembered for her strength, her grace, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. Her family and friends will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Her Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, September 9th, during a visitation period in our Fall River Chapel. A private cremation followed. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Barbara's memory to Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St, Fall River, MA 02721; 508-677-9154.
