Fall River

Obituary

Belmira (Amaral) Costa, age 89, passed away in Fall River, Sunday, September 13, 2015, following an extended illness. She was the widow of Cyril F. Talbot and Manuel R. Costa. Born in Portsmouth, RI, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Vincente) Amaral. A Fall River resident for most her life, she was employed as a floor lady in the garment trade of this city for many years at the former Durfee Mills, and also worked part time as a self-employed housekeeper. Although she enjoyed gardening and sewing, Belmira held a special passion for the old west. When visiting her you were certain to find the TV tuned to an old western series like Bonanza, Big Valley, Gunsmoke, or a John Wayne cowboy movie. Surviving family members include her six children; Carolyn Alpalhao of Swansea, Brenda M. Pacheco and Thomas J. Talbot, both of Fall River, Marianne McGlynn of Tiverton, RI, William R. Costa of Petersburg, NY, and James T. Costa of Somerset, ten grandchildren; Carey-Ann Sattler of Seattle, WA, Jesse Costa USMC, Casey E. Costa and Ashley Hathaway, both of Fall River, Nicole Talbot of Somerset, Robert J. McGlynn of Tiverton, John C. Talbot and Adam T. Talbot, both of Fall River, Eric J. Costa and Evan J. Costa, both of Somerset, and a great grandson, Dominic E. Blair of Fall River. She was also the mother of the late Kenneth M. Talbot. Her Funeral Service was held in our Fall River Chapel on Friday, September 18th, followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
