Belmira De Mello, 94, of Fall River, widow of Jose T. Melo, died Saturday 4/18/15 at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Agua Retorta, St Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Carlos L. & Maria (Silva) Pereira, she emigrated to Fall River in 1956. She worked in the local garment trade, at Louis Hand for 25 years, retiring in 1983, and was a member of ILGWU (now UNITE). She leaves: 3 children, Alda M. Melo of Somerville, Jose C. & Luis A. (wife Lorrie) Melo both of Fall River; a sister, Eracemia Silva of Toronto; 2 granddaughters, Alexandra & Olivia Mello; several nieces & nephews. Also sister of the late Artemisia Sousa, Maria Pacheco, Carlos & Manuel Pereira. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, April 22nd, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
