Beverly D.
Pereira
d. Jul 25, 2025
Beverly Dorothy (Costa) Pereira, 88, of Fall River, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 25, 2025, after a long and fruitful life. Born in Fall River, she was the only child of the late Antone Fonseca Costa and the late Dorothy (Andrade) Costa.
With a master's in education from Bridgewater State College, Beverly was employed by the Fall River school department for 41 years as an educator and school psychologist, retiring in 1996. During her tenure she was an advocate for her students and was known for her charitable contributions to families she served.
Affectionately known as "Goosey" by those closest to her, her home on Newbury Street was a sanctuary for friends, relatives and stray animals throughout the years. She was an avid reader and skilled knitter. Beverly had an adventurous spirit, enjoying scuba diving, motorcycling, traveling and spending Summers at the beach. She especially cherished her time with her grandchildren; and her new great grandbabies brought her such joy.
She is survived by: three children, Pamela Burdick (husband James) of Westport, Nancy Pereira of Fall River, and Jenifer Pereira-Weiss of Concord, CA; seven grandchildren, Ryan L. Waite, Samantha J. Waite, India V. Scott, Micah R. Scott, Aja J. Scott, Cade H. Scott, and Angelina J. Weiss; and two great grandchildren, Vega J. Virgadamo and Ocean A. Hoyte.
Following a private cremation, a Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, August 6th, during a visitation period in our Fall River Chapel. Her cremains will be buried privately in Oak Grove Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Beverly's memory to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; 800-805-5856; https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html ; Shriners Children's Hospital, 51 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114; 6617-722-3000; Donate to Shriners Hospitals for Children® ( lovetotherescue.org ) https://donate.lovetotherescue.org/give ; or, Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St, Fall River, MA 02721; 508-677-9154.
