Beverly A.
Sousa
d. Jul 3, 2025
Beverly A. Sousa, 83, of Mashpee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2025, at Mass General Brigham Hospital after a year-long battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Manuel Sousa, with whom she shared sixty-two wonderful years of marriage. Born in Fall River, Beverly was the daughter of the late Antone and Isabel (Vasconcelos) Fragoza.
Before her retirement, Beverly worked for many years for the Attleboro District Court Probation Department as an administrative assistant, where she was known for her dedication and kind spirit.
Beverly had a deep love for music and singing, a passion for shopping, and always enjoyed her time at the beach. She and Manny shared a love of travel and cruises that took them on adventures near and far, exploring places such as Portugal, Bermuda, Barbados, and the Azores. They also enjoyed great memories with friends and family in New Hampshire and Florida, where they had homes.
Beverly was not only strikingly beautiful, but equally as vibrant, social and always perfectly put together – a true "fashionista." At just seventeen, she earned second runner-up in the Miss Fall River Pageant, celebrated for both her beauty and singing talents.
But always above all else, Beverly's greatest love was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and Nana who cherished every moment spent with those she loved.
Beverly is survived by her loving husband, Manuel; her children, Stephanie Sousa of Norton, Michael Sousa and his wife, Kelley, of Williamsburg, Virginia; and her treasured grandchildren, Alexa Sousa-Shumosic, Sean Sousa, and Ryan Sousa. She also leaves her brothers, Gary Fragoza of Rhode Island, and Gregory Fragoza of Florida, along with her three nieces Jennifer, Lauren and Caroline.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, July 9th, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fall River. A private cremation followed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Beverly's memory to: Dana Farber/Jimmy Fund, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
