Brenda Viveiros, 76, of Fall River, passed away Sunday after a tremendous battle against a chronic Lupus illness. She was the beloved wife of Carlton M. Viveiros; born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Ernest and Alexandrina Medeiros. For many years, Brenda worked as a supervisor with the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare. Although she stood at merely 4'10, there was nothing small about her heart, and above all, she was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was undeniably the most happy when nurturing, guiding and entertaining her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband's political career thrust her into a spotlight that held no allure for her, yet she served as First Lady of Fall River for thirteen years with the utmost grace and dignity. Brenda was the force whose love and determination held her family together through both trials and triumphs. Having risen from such humble roots, she became a respected public figure but never once forgot those roots and remained true to herself. Her comic stories and zany antics always brought smiles and laughter to those in her presence. Through the years Lupus ravaged her body, but never her soul and she remained resolute and unwavering in her devotion to loved ones and her many friends. Their devotion will keep her spirit alive for many, many years to come. She was an avid reader and, when in good health, enjoyed skiing, boating and dining with family and friends. Brenda was the beloved mother of Kerry M. Viveiros (wife-BethAnn) and Keith A. Viveiros (wife-Diane); grandmother of Keith M. Viveiros (wife-Debra), Kelsie Viveiros and Allyson Fagan (husband-Patrick); great grandmother of Tyron Viveiros, Sean and Rileigh Fagan; sister of Michael 'The Barber' Medeiros and the late Ernest P. Medeiros, Jr. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, December 31st, in Santo Christo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
