Brian D. Cates, 63, passed away at home, from a short illness on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Husband of Sandra (Veloza) Cates, he was born in Fall River. He worked for many years as an oil burner technician for Charlie's Oil Company. He enjoyed working in the yard, fixing things, going to the casino, taking trips to New Hampshire with his family and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Brian leaves his two daughters, Amanda Cates Nardi (husband-Christopher) of Lakeville and Rachel Cates Perrella (husband-Dewey) of Middleton, MA; his mother, Anne Sowden;  and his brother, Donald Cates of Fall River. He was also grandfather "Papa Brian" to Jackson, Ryan and Hannah Nardi, Vincent and Charlotte Perrella. Following his cremation, a memorial mass was celebrated in Holy Rosary Church on Saturday, April 22nd.
