Candida "Connie" Rodrigues, age 89, of 977 Locust Street in Fall River, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. She was the widow of Joaquim Bento Rodrigues. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Antone de Abreu and the late Candida (Rafeira) de Abreu. At the age of two she moved with her family to the island of St. Michael in the Azores. Raised in the Azores, Connie returned here to her native country in 1952. A seamstress, she was employed at the former Chesterfield Dress for 35 years before her retirement in 1980. Mrs. Rodrigues was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fall River and was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. Surviving family members include her two daughters, Mary Fatima de Fusco and Mary-Jo Clesius, both of Fall River, her son, Antonio Rodrigues, also of Fall River, a sister, Mary Zelia Carvalho of Somerset, eight grandchildren, Patricia De Fusco, Robert De Fusco, Melissa Sousa, Charlene Rodrigues, Candida Randall, Tiffany Rodrigues, Jacque Rodrigues and Nicole Rodrigues, six great grandchildren, Julia Sousa, Madison Sousa, Zoe Fitzgerald, Alexander Randall, Elijah Randall and Jacque Rodrigues, Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass, concelebrated by Father Brian Albino and Father John Martins, was offered on Friday (3/7) in St Anthony of Padua Church. Committal services followed at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Rodrigues, John Carvalho, Tony Sousa, Joe Brizido, Luis Brizido and Benjamin Silva.
