Carlos A. Sousa, age 76, passed away at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River on Friday, June 4, 2010, following an extended illness. He was the husband of Mary I. (Cabral) Sousa of Fall River. Born on the island of St. Michael in the Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Almeida Sousa and the late Maria (Costa) Sousa. After residing in the Azores for twenty six years, he moved to Fall River in 1960 and was employed for many years as a laborer with the Gammino Construction Company of Cranston, RI. A member of the International Laborers Union, Local 271 of Providence, RI, he retired in 1991. Mr. Sousa was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fall River and a former member of the Don Carlos Club. In addition to his wife, Mary, surviving family members include his son, David Sousa and his wife, Ana, of Tiverton, RI, two granddaughters, Clarice Sousa and Morgan Sousa, also of Tiverton, and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was offered on Wednesday, June 9, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by a committal service at Notre Dame Cemetery.
