Carlos Correia
Sousa
d. Jul 15, 2022
Carlos Correia Sousa, 76, of Westport, husband of Luisa (Carepa) Sousa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Cavoada, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel de Sousa and the late Escolastica (Correia) de Sousa.
Carlos was owner and proprietor of Carlos Auto Body and CS Auto Sales for over 45 years. A kind, funny and remarkably generous man, Carlos always had a story or a joke to share with the many people he encountered. He was extremely charitable and willing to help anyone in need through his kind acts of service. Carlos was also a devoted and faithful husband and father who worked very hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed working in his yard and caring for his home. He was a worldwide traveler with his wife and daughter. They especially enjoyed visiting Portugal and cruising together. He was also considered to be a "Carlos of all trades" and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed helping others in any way that he could. Above all, spending quality time with family and friends was most important to Carlos.
Besides his loving wife of fifty-one years, he leaves his beloved daughter, Michelle Sousa of Somerset; his two sisters, Modesta de Sousa of the Azores and Lourdes Fernandes of Canada; his two brothers, Jose de Sousa of Canada and Humberto de Sousa of the Azores; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Noemia de Sousa.
His private funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 19th, from our Fall River Chapel with a dear family friend, Rev. Scott Pontes, presiding over the Rite of Christian Burial followed by a private committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum in Fall River. In the spirit of Carlos' love of helping others, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to your favorite charity.
The Sousa family is very thankful for the amazing care and attention the Atwood-4 staff at Charlton Memorial Hospital showed Carlos during his final days.
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. Being unable to do so at this time, all are urged to express sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
