Carmelia "Mel" Ferreira, 61, of Fall River, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, after a sudden illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose Silva Dias and the late Maria Teresa (Monte) Dias, she emigrated to Fall River in 1969.

Currently working at Seekonk DPW, she had been employed prior to that for many years at Lightolier, formerly of Fall River. Carmelia enjoyed baking and playing scrabble and rummy.

She is survived by: two children, James Ferreira (wife Crystal) of Yulee, Florida, and Linda Freire (husband Derick) of Berkley, MA; three siblings, Mario Dias of Dartmouth, Joe Dias of Fall River, and Susan Soares (husband Roger) of Fall River; five grandchildren, Austin, Breanna, Alexis, Jaelynne, and Sienna; and many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, November 14th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
