Carmina P. Carvalho, 91, of Fall River, widow of Luiz Rego Carvalho, passed away at home surrounded by family on Friday, April 4, 2025. Born in Calhetas, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel Dias Pereira and the late Virginia Calisto, she emigrated to Fall River in 1953.

After working in the local garment industry as a seamstress for 20 years, Carmina founded, and owned till 1997, Carmen Fashions of Pleasant St. Longtime active member of the Our Lady of Light Society, she was also a member of the Portuguese Business Association. Carmina loved gardening and cooking, and was proud to have sponsored many extended family members to become U. S. citizens.

She is survived by: two daughters, Carmen M. Sousa (husband Deodate) of Somerset and Beverly A. Tavares of Fall River; four grandchildren, David Sousa, Mark Sousa, Alex Tavares, and Bianca Lage; three great grandchildren, Jackson C. Sousa, Colin X. Sousa, and Cohen Pacheco; and several nieces and nephews. Carmina was predeceased by her siblings: Manuel Dias Pereira, Marcolina de Estrela Pereira d'Almeida, and Maria Conceição da Silva

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, April 9th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Carmina's memory to your favorite charity.
