Carol Ann Simons, 71, of Somerset, wife of Erwin J. Simons, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Eileen (Bettencourt) Freeman. Carol loved knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and bowling. She also enjoyed camping and traveling to such places as California and Hawaii. Although she had no children of her own, she mothered many. Besides her husband of 53 years, she leaves: her brothers, Kevin, Barry, Pete, Walter, and Paul Freeman; Dominic Garcia, who she considered to be like a grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Jeff, Richard, and David Freeman. A service honoring a celebration of her life was held on Thursday, February 15th, in the Church of Our Savior in Somerset followed by her committal at Nathan Slade Cemetery.
