Obituary

Charles Andrade, Jr., 83, of Portsmouth, RI, husband of Helena (Oliveira) Andrade, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Fall River, son of the late Charles Andrade Sr. and the late Madeline (Andrews) Andrade, he lived in Fall River most of his life, residing in Portsmouth for the past 22 years.

He was the president of his father's family business, Andy's Rapid Transportation, from 1972 until 2018. Always family-oriented and strong in his faith, Charles was an active parishioner of the former St. Elizabeth's Church and a member of its Holy Ghost Society. If you knew him, you knew his passion for the Holy Ghost!  He also enjoyed membership in the Portuguese American Citizen's Club of Portsmouth, RI, and the Summit Grove Holy Ghost Club of Dartmouth, MA, as well as founding the Sucker Brook Reunion Social Club. He enjoyed playing the slots at the casino, was an avid Red Sox fan and loved all things related to the history of his birthplace, Fall River. Charles grew up surrounded by animals of all kinds and as an adult was a great animal dad.

Besides his wife, of 38 years, he is survived by: four children, Charlene Andrade of Tiverton, RI, Joseph Andrade of Tiverton, RI, Elizabeth Boucher (Michael) of Acushnet, MA, and Kenny Oliveira (Donna) of Fall River; two siblings, Gabriel Andrade (Alice) of Fall River and Kathleen Soares of Fall River; five grandsons; one great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Marlene O'Neil and Emily "Prunie" St. Pierre.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, June 28th, in Holy Trinity Parish Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
