Charles "Chuck" Borden Bigelow, Jr., 87, of Fall River, husband of Alice (Pestana) Bigelow, passed away peacefully at Charlton Memorial Hospital on Sunday, August 21, 2022 following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Charles B. Bigelow, Sr. and the late Mary (Moniz) Bigelow.
Prior to his retirement, he was supervisor of Maintenance at Citizens Union Savings Bank (Baycoast Bank) and Served in the National Guard. A communicant of Holy Trinity Parish, he was also a member of the Our Lady of Health Holy Name Society and a volunteer at St Vincent's Home. "Chuck" was a coach for the Maplewood baseball league, CYO basketball, Fall River Youth Hockey League and Assistant coach for the Portsmouth Abby basketball team. Chuck was an avid Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Patriots fan...... and the biggest fan of his family.
Besides his loving wife of sixty-five years, he leaves his two sons, Gary Charles Bigelow and his wife, Jane (Fiore) Bigelow, and Brian John Bigelow, both of Fall River; his grandchildren , Eli Charles Bigelow and wife, Emily, Zachary Sanford Bigelow, Amanda Freitas and husband, Nick, Cameron Torres and wife, Ashley, Elizabeth Bigelow, and Jacob Bigelow; one great-grandson Lincoln Freitas; nieces, Beth Bigelow and Kim (Goncalo) Alfonso and husband Jeff; nephews, Daniel Bigelow , Robert Goncalo Jr and wife Olga, Kevin Goncalo and husband Brian. He was also the brother of the late Dana Andrew Bigelow.
Following a private cremation, His Memorial Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, September 17th, at the Holy Trinity Parish Church in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Chuck's name to a charity of one's choice.
