Obituary

Charles Habib, 89, of Fall River, husband of Mary (Matteson) Habib, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at home after a long illness.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Abraham and Naffy (Azeez) Habib.

Prior to his retirement he worked for the Fall River Public School Department as a custodian and as a bus driver (a job he very much enjoyed) for several bus companies over the years. An avid gardener who would spend long hours outdoors, he also loved taking his grandchildren on "field trips". Charles was a member of the Lebanese American Society and the Lebanese American Veterans, Philip Sabra Post. Most importantly, he enjoyed being surrounded by family and getting together for family celebrations.

Besides his wife of fifty-two years, he leaves: his children, Charles J. Habib, Jr. and his wife, Pauline, of Fall River, Robert A. Habib and his wife, Ana, of Westport, and Annie Habib Dias of Fall River; twelve grandchildren, Brandon Habib, Sonya Habib, Nathan Habib, Kelsie Dias, Kylie Dias, Chelsey Felix, Cory Felix, Kaitlyn Habib, Aaron Leduc, Bill Osbaldeston, Jr., and Melinda Leduc; six great-grandchildren, Kaiden Habib, Kailee Southworth, Ryder Fortin, Skyler Habib, Mariah Osbaldeston, and Sawyer Andrade;  and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Gary A. Habib and brother of the late John, Hasseeb, and Nassip "Joe" Habib, Annie Habib, Martha Yousif, Hasseeba "Fay" Kalif, Agnes Viveiros, and Margaret Amaral.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a private funeral service was held on Friday, June 5th, in our Fall River Chapel followed by his private committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Charles' memory to: Southcoast Visiting Nurse Association, 200 Mill Road, Fairhaven, MA 02790.
