Obituary

Charles Raposa, age 77, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, following a long illness. Born in Westport, Massachusetts; he was a son of the late John Lucinda Raposa and the late Margaret (Couto) Raposa. A resident of Fall River for most his life, he was employed as a welder for many years at the Quincy Shipyard. Enlisting in the United States Air Force in January of 1951, he served until the end of the Korean War, transferring to the Reserves in 1953. Mr. Raposa enjoyed fishing and was a member of the St. John's Fishing Club. Surviving family members include his daughter, Jean Estrella of Arizona, two brothers, John "Moose" Raposa of Fall River, and William Raposa of Florida, five sisters, Margaret Raposa of Holyoke, MA, Alice Tucker of Virginia, Patricia Monfils of Rehoboth, MA, and the twins, Helen Gallant of South Attleboro, MA, and Anne Arruda of Westport, two grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Estrella and Eric Payne Glover, and twenty nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Barbara Ann Raposa and the late Diana Marie Raposa. Funeral Services with the Silva-Faria Funeral Home were private.
