Cheryl L.
Normandin
d. May 29, 2025
Cheryl L. Normandin, 67, of North Dartmouth, passed away on Thursday May 29, 2025. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Samuel E. Lay, Jr. and the late Dorothy L. (Oliveira) Lay. She resided in North Dartmouth, for the past 30 years. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Fall River.
Cheryl dedicated her entire professional career to the retail banking industry, holding a variety of roles over the years where her passion for her work set her apart. Most recently, she served as a learning and development coach and facilitator at Sharon Crescent Credit Union in Brockton. Prior to that, she held positions at several major financial institutions, including Santander Bank, Bank of America, the former Bank of Boston, and Fleet National Bank.
Her enthusiasm was contagious, and her kindness and dedication inspired everyone around her. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, forming genuine relationships and friendships wherever she went. She was known not only for her exceptional work ethic and deep love for what she did, but also for her signature fashion sense.
Outside of her professional life, Cheryl's heart truly belonged to her family—especially her daughters, who were her world and her very best friends. She cherished every moment with them, whether it was a girls' trip, a country concert, a birthday celebration, or a holiday gathering. Cheryl was a devoted mother who brought energy, laughter, and love into everything they did together.
She also treasured time spent with her siblings and their families, creating lifelong memories during visits to her brother in Saybrook, Connecticut, and to her sister in Indianapolis or Long Island, NY. Whether near or far, Cheryl prioritized staying close and connected to her family, always finding joy in quality time, conversation, and togetherness.
Cheryl provided dedicated and compassionate care to those closest to her, most notably her mother and longtime partner. As her primary caretaker, she supported her mother through the challenges of aging, ensuring her safety and comfort. She also cared deeply for her longtime partner, who depended on her daily support. She had a deep love for animals and nurtured both her two-legged and four-legged loved ones with love and devotion.
She was also a phenomenal cook and avid baker, known for sharing her delicious homemade treats with colleagues. She also gave back through volunteer work with organizations like the March of Dimes, United Way, and Junior Achievement.
She is survived by: her two daughters, Kristy L. Normandin (partner Thomas Foyle) of Madison, CT, and Tiffany L. Normandin of Providence, RI; her partner, Abe Abdallah; two siblings, sister Debra Lay-Renkens (husband Kenneth L. Renkens, MD) of Indianapolis, IN, and brother Randall R. Lay (wife Betsy) of St. Petersburg, FL; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 6th, in our Fall River Chapel. A private cremation followed. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Cheryl's memory to the New England Humane Society at https://newenglandhumanesociety.com/in-memory/ .
