Christine (Costa) Pires, 90, of Fall River, formerly of Hyde St, widow of Joseph Pires, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 at Crawford Skilled Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Joseph & Carolina (Teves) Costa, she resided in Fall River most of her life. Employed in the local textile industry at Shelburne Shirt for many years, she was also a nurse's aide at Catholic Memorial Home for several years. She was a parishioner of Espirito Santo Church and a member of their Holy Rosary Sodality. Survivors include: children, James J. Pires (wife-Dorothy A.) of No. Dartmouth & Marjorie Powers (husband-James F., Jr.) of Tiverton; siblings, Margaret Rocha of New Bedford, Carolina "Cora" Souza formerly of Fall River; grandchildren, Sharon L. Pires, Christine Charron & James F. Powers, III. She was also grandmother of the late Stephen J. Pires, and sister of the late Virginia Isidore, Georgiana Albernaz, Odilia Moniz, Mary Cabral, Leontina Carreiro, August "Paul" Costa & Rosalina Themuda. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated by Father James Ferry on Friday (11/9) in Espirito Santo Church. Committal services followed at St. Patrick Cemetery. Pallbearers were James F.
