Clotilde E. Taveira, 90, of Somerset, wife of the late Joseph C. Taveira, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Rabo de Peixe, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late John do Couto and Candida (Pacheco) do Couto.

Prior to raising her family, she worked in the local textile industry for several years. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and gardening. Clotilde also very much enjoyed talking on the telephone with family and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves: her loving children, Louis Taveira and his wife, Patricia, of Somerset, Phoebe Dedonis and her husband, Kenneth, of Windsor, Connecticut, Joseph "Charlie" Taveira and his wife, Susan, of Swansea, and Candace Stansfield and her husband, Gil, of Dighton; her seven grandchildren, Christine Halliwell (Mark), Tracey Goncalves (Paul), Michael Taveira, Celine Brown (Matthew), Aodhan Stansfield, Thaire Stansfield, and Eoin Stansfield; seven great-grandchildren, Noah Halliwell, Gabrielle Halliwell, Riley Goncalves, Addyson Goncalves, Roeyn Goncalves, Emily Brown, and Meagan Brown; her two brothers, Manuel Couto and his wife, Fernanda, of Coventry, Rhode Island, and Jose Couto and his wife, Carmen, of Swansea; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Joseph Mathias Taveira and sister of the late John Couto and the late Peter do Couto.

Her private funeral was held on Monday, January 11th, with Her Funeral Mass in St. John of God Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick,s Cemetery both in Somerset.
