d. Jun 22, 2024
Daniel "Super D" Griffin, 76, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late John Griffin and the late Margaret (Donovan) Griffin.
He leaves his siblings, Timothy Griffin, Paul Griffin, Michael Griffin, Joyce Franks and Veronica McNulty as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was also the brother of the late Angela Lozano, Margie Charcowski, Joan Campbell, and John Griffin.
Although Daniel never married or had children of his own he was as a second father to niece, Amanda (Griffin) Cabral, her husband, Adam Cabral and grand-niece, Morrighan Cabral.
Daniel was an active and lifelong member of the Fall River community. After serving as a cook for the U.S. Army in Vietnam, he worked at North American Rubber Thread until his retirement. A lover of basketball and softball in his youth, he also participated in various horseshoe throwing leagues throughout the years. At the age of 58 he began a love affair with karaoke at the B's Nest of Fall River and was well known at local bars and restaurants where he would serenade the patrons with Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson and even Elvis songs, flirting with any beautiful bartender or waitress he met.
Daniel was a lifelong poet and storyteller. He delighted in writing heartfelt and meaningful poems for anyone who had impacted his life. Birthdays, Christmases, weddings, births, and deaths, any opportunity he had to share words of encouragement and beauty with people he cared for. He will also be remembered fondly by the members of the Veterans Association of Fall River where he and his best friend of 50 years, Warren Alves, spent much of their time with their fellow veterans arguing and laughing and enjoying each other's companionship
Daniel's impact on everyone he met was unique and memorable. He was loved well by many and will be missed dearly.
Following a private cremation, His Memorial Service took place on Tuesday, July 16th, during a visitation period at our Fall River Chapel. His cremains were later buried at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
