Daniel Paulo, of Swansea, husband of Lillian (Thorpe) Paulo, passed away peacefully in his 86th year on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at his home after a long illness.

Born Fall River, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Francisco and Mary (Ferreira) Paulo.

Prior to retirement he worked as a laborer and member of the Union Local 610 in the construction industry for many years. A Veteran of the United States Army and member of the VFW 486 Fall River and VFW 2045 Swansea, he proudly served our Country during the Korean War Era. A "jack of all trades", he was also very generous with his time and means and would help anyone in need. He was a life-long Harley Davidson fan, riding his motorcycle up until four years ago when he became unable to due to his illness. He and and his wife traveled extensively over the years with their RV throughout the United States, wintered in Florida, and frequented their cabin in Maine where Daniel enjoyed making his own maple syrup. Most important to Daniel was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his wife of sixty-three years, he leaves his loving children, Kathleen Scallon and her husband, Edwin, Daniel Paulo, Jr., and Jo-Anne Paulo, all of Swansea,  and Linda Dugas and Steven Paulo (late wife, Debra), both of Somerset; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his brother, James Paulo (late wife, Avis) of Westport; his sisters, Natalie Levesque and her husband, Henry, of Swansea, Hilda Depasquale (late husband, Joseph) of Warwick, Delores McGuiire (late husband, Mac) of Tiverton, Geraldine Duclos of Somerset, and Amelia Gordineer and her husband, Richard, of  New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Alfred Paulo, Mary Franco, Antone Paulo, Deolinda Depasquale, Francisco Paulo, and Rosemarie Paulo.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Daniel's private funeral was held on Tuesday, June 9th, from our Somerset Chapel followed by his committal with military honors at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Swansea.

When the current crisis allows, his family is planning to celebrate his life with a Memorial Funeral Mass at St. Louis de France Church, which will be announced here.
