Fall River

Obituary

David DaSilva, 87, of Fall River, husband of the late Lidia (Botelho) DaSilva, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 11, 2019 after a period of declining health. Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel and Francisca (doRego) DaSilva. Prior to his retirement he was a laborer in the construction industry for many years and a proud member of Local 610 for over fifty years. He loved to garden, tending to his grapevines and making his own wine. An avid Red Sox fan, David also enjoyed traveling to such places as Portugal, Italy, Alaska, and California. He leaves: his children, David DaSilva, Jr. and his wife Lucy of Tiverton, Arthur DaSilva and his wife Christine and Laurie Purcell, of Swansea; four grandchildren, Jason DaSilva, Nicole DaSilva, Andrew DaSilva, and Travis Purcell; two brothers, Liberal Silva and his wife Rita of Fall River, and Josue DaSilva Almeida and his wife Joana of the Azores; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Manuel Silva, Gabriel DaSilva, and Mary Massa. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, January 18th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
