David William DiCesaro, 65, of Fall River, passed away April 4th after a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer. Husband of Beverly (Pereira) DiCesaro. Born in Taunton, son of the late William and Mary Irene (Neves) DiCesaro, he grew up and was educated in Somerset. Before retiring, David worked in the warehouse of the Fall River Housing Authority and was previously employed by Montaup Electric. An accomplished musician, he started at a young age with the accordion for which he won numerous awards and spent most Sundays entertaining his family with Italian and Portuguese songs. In his early teens, he transitioned to piano, and was a member of many popular local bands, including Together, Wizz, Vintage, Tazz and, currently, the classic rock band, Steel Dreams. An antique car enthusiast and former member of Bay State Street Machines, Dave won several trophies for his much loved 1956 Chevrolet Belair. Although he was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and his beloved New York Giants, David's greatest enjoyment was being with family and having good times with friends. He touched the lives of many people and maintained his trademark sense of humor to the end. Besides his wife of 42 years, he survived by his two children, Angela DiCesaro (boyfriend-Heath Jennings) of Somerset and Michael DiCesaro, (girlfriend-Tracy Leonardo) of Fall River; his beloved granddaughter, Ella Rose DiCesaro; two aunts, Edwina Rocha of Somerset and Eva Buote of Swansea; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Following his cremation, a memorial gathering was held in our Fall River Chapel on Saturday, March 11th. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in David's memory to Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Ste. 745, Boston 02215.
