Jordan
d. Jan 1, 2022
It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David P. Jordan, 92 years old of Fall River, MA. he passed away peacefully at the home of his son, Michael and his partner, Jon Travers. Beloved son of the late John P. Jordan and the late Marie "Mary" S. Jordan, he arrived in New Bedford, MA on May 1st, 1930, the second oldest son of 7 surviving siblings.
David was a gentle, kind, loving and a fiercely independent man, but most importantly he was devoted to his entire family and for his love to our Lord and the Virgin Mary. If you were to ask David what the greatest achievements in his life were, he would not hesitate to say the day he met his wife Maria Antonieta, his pride that he was able to support his entire family after the death of his father, and finally, it would be his contribution to the United States of America.
He served in the infantry, (Army) stationed in Korea. He was the recipient of the "Korean Service Medal", the "National Defense Service Medal" and the "Good Conduct Medal". David was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal First Class on 9/20/1955. After returning to the states, he began working for the Department of Public Works, (DPW), and retired after 30 years, achieving the position of supervisor.
David was just a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, sibling, uncle, cousin, friend, and neighbor. He leaves behind his twin sons, David, (Partner Dennis) of Boston, Ma., Michael, (Partner Jon)of Tiverton, RI., and his loyal niece Lisa, (Partner Paul) of Fall River, Ma. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Patrick, Cassandra, Caitlyn, David, Jonathan, and Zachariah and six great-grandchildren, Cole, Michael, Leah, Alyvia, Ariana, and Miranda.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Richard P. Jordan and Shirley A. Botelho, both of Fall River, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. David was also the former father in-law of Lisa Oliveira Jordan.
He was the husband of the late Maria Antonieta (Correia Farias) Jordan; father of the late Patrick Anthony Jordan; brother of the late John, Steven and Dorothy P. Jordan and Lenora P. Jordan Carvalho; and uncle of the late John David Botelho, Kelly Jean Botelho, Steven P. Jordan, Jr. and Erick Jordan.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 8th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal with full military honors at St. Patrick Cemetery where he was finally laid to rest near his precious Maria Antonieta. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to either the Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org/ or towards the prevention of cruelty to animals via https://www.aspca.org/
When the health crisis subsides, his family is hoping to gather for an intimate dinner to celebrate this wonderful man and his life.
