David Ernest Mello, 76, of Fall River, long-time companion of Anne Wicks, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, February 14, 2025. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Ernest Mello, Jr., and the late Mary (Brenner) Mello.

Prior to his retirement he worked for Matrix Incorporated in East Providence as a Shipping Manager for many years.  A United States Army Veteran, he proudly and bravely served his country during the Vietnam Era. An avid reader, especially of science fiction and history, he also loved fishing, gardening, cooking, and European soccer.

Besides his loving companion, he leaves his son, Marc Mello of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; his four grandchildren, Grace Diane Mello, Abigail Mary Mello, Jackson David Mello, and Charlotte Wicks; and his sister, Susan (Mello) McCarthy and her husband, Fred, of Fall River. He was the father of the late Jason David Mello.

His funeral arrangements were private.
