Obituary

David "Dave" M. Oliveira, 77, of Westport, husband of Lucia F. (Pereira) Oliveira, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 11, 2023. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel Oliveira and the late Olive (Teves) Oliveira, he resided in Westport for the last 14 years.

A heavy equipment operator in the submarine building industry, Dave was employed at General Dynamics of Quonset Point for 20 years, then worked maintenance at UMass Dartmouth for 13 years before retiring in 2010. He had also worked for 3 of his younger years at Aberdeen Curtains.

A big fan, Dave enjoyed watching the Patriot's. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, cooking, and was a real family man. Dave loved his 2012 Mustang and would often take to the road with his wife on a moment's notice – just to enjoy driving his pride and joy.

Besides his wife, he is survived by: six children, David M. Oliveira of Dartmouth, Lisa DeSousa of Swansea, Erika A. Brillon (husband Mike) of Westport, Rachel Gendreau (husband Kyle) of Westport, Justin L. Braga of Fall River, and Kayla Braga (fiancé Mikey) of Westport; nine grandchildren, Jared, Alyssa, Karryn, Alex, Zach, Emily, Abby, Ryan, and Jason; one great granddaughter, London; a cat, Briggs; a grandpuppy, Bruiser; several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Alfred Oliveira.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, June 15th, at St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery both in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dave's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; 800-805-5856; https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html.
