David Ponte, 70, of Westport, loving husband of Nancy (Medeiros) Ponte , passed away unexpectedly in Naples, Florida on February 19, 2017.  David was born in Westport, son to the late John S. and Alice (Forneiro) Ponte. He was the owner and founder of Brougham Motors Collision Center in Fall River for the past 48 years. While running his successful business, he always kept family time as his top priority. From weekends spent boating in New Hampshire to pre-dinner ice cream runs with the grandchildren, his focus was on creating memories with those he loved. Nothing warmed his heart more than being surrounded by his family. He enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling, boating, RV-ing  and Florida beaches.  David will be greatly missed. Besides his wife of 52 years, he leaves his sons, David Ponte,Jr. and his wife Sherilynn of Westport and Jesse and his wife Elsy of Florida; daughters Tracey Ponte of Westport and Donna Hampton and her husband Thomas of Narragansett,R.I.; sisters Pauline Souza of New York and Louise Melancon of Maine; seven grandchildren, Katie and Rebecca Grant, Hillary and Meredith Ponte, Noah and Lucas Ponte, and Victoria Hampton ; three step-grandchildren, Chrystian, Jonryan, and Nashaly Miranda; two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Ponte and Emry Grant; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the grandfather of the late Bethany Ponte and brother of the late John, George, Francis Ponte , Alice Teixeira and Lorraine Manuel. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, March 3rd, in St. John the Baptist Church in Westport followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
