David R. Vital, 83, of Somerset, passed peacefully surrounded by his family at Charlton Memorial Hospital on Saturday. He was the beloved husband of Irene (Rebello) Vital, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Fall River, son of the late Mary (Baptisita) and Eugene Rego Vital. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For the past 36 years David was an independent distributor of Pepperidge Farm cookies and snacks to retail stores in the Rhode Island and Massachusetts areas. Survivors include his children, Carol E. Desmarais of Swansea, David A. Vital (wife – Jeanne (Levesque)) of Sugar Land, Texas and James P. Vital of Somerset; grandchildren, Keenan of Providence, RI and Nicole of Texas; sister, Leah Saraiva (husband – Edward) of Somerset and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Emily, Manuel, Eugene and Joseph Vital. An avid square and round dancer for many years, David also enjoyed traveling and camping with his many friends. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, July 26, in St. Patrick Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery both in Somerset.
