Debra A. Mitchell, 58, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday after a long illness. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Garcia) Mitchell. She worked at J&J Technologies for many years prior to her retirement. Debra was always "out and about" enjoying shopping at her favorite stores. A big scratch ticket fan, she also loved to plan parties, absolutely loved Christmas, and her annual trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. But most importantly, she treasured her family and friends, particularly her granddaughter, Mya who was her pride and joy. Debra leaves her two sons, Jeffrey R. Mercier and his wife Ana and Christopher A. Mercier of New Bedford; her granddaughter, Mya Mercier; her brother Jack Mitchell of Maine; several nieces and nephews; and her cherished dog "Cooper". She was also the life companion of the late Norman T. Mercier. Her Funeral Service was held on Thursday, March 30th, in our Somerset Chapel followed by her committal at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
