Obituary

Delfina (Melo) Cabral, 85, of Fall River, wife of the late Antero B. Cabral, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2024 following a long illness. Born in Pedreira de Nordeste, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel C. deMelo and the late Maria deLourdes (Pacheco) deMelo.

Prior to her retirement she worked as a sewing machine operator in the local textile industry for many years.  She loved cooking, baking, gardening, and family gatherings. A bit of a "prankster" with her twin sister, she also enjoyed tending to her house plants and rides to the ocean and local waterfronts. As a devout Catholic, Delfina prayed the rosary daily, was a long-time parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church where she faithfully attended Mass, and was a committed member of the Ladies of the Rosary.

She leaves two loving children, George Cabral and his wife, Debbie, of Fall River, and Susana M. Cabral and her husband, Adelino, of Dartmouth; her three grandchildren, Melissa A. Cole and her husband,  Brent, Luke S. Cabral, and  Mia S. Cabral; her  great-granddaughter, Laney Cole;  sisters, Rita Santos and her husband, John, Paulina Teixeira and her husband, Antonio, and Celeste DeMelo, all of Fall River, her twin sister,  Elisa Cabral (late husband, Joao) of Canada, and Fatima Olsen and her husband, Keld, of Fairhaven; brothers, John Mello and his wife, Fatinha, of Florida and Silveiro DeMelo and his wife, Zelia, of the Azores; and many nieces & nephews. She was also the sister of the late Miguel DeMelo.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 24th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
