Delphina "Del" (Duarte) Souza, 99, of Fall River, passed away peacefully at Kimwell Nursing Home on June 5th, 2012. Formerly of Tiverton, RI, she resided at Kimwell for the past five years. Delphina was the beloved wife of the late Ayres "Ike" Souza. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Hermano and Angelina (Rego) Duarte. She was employed by Firestone Latex Rubber Co. for many years and was a homemaker. Del was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother who treasured times spent with family the most. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, music, dancing and playing bingo. Survivors include two daughters, Vivian Souza and her husband Robert of Fall River and Paula E. Souza of Fall River, who was also her caregiver for many years; a brother, Flavian "Frank" Duarte of Fall River; grandchildren, Sheila (Oliveira) DeAlmeida and her husband Michael of Fall River and Stephanie (Oliveira) Nazzaro and her husband James of South Carolina; great grandchildren, Cassandra, Mikallan and Alexander; and several nieces and nephews. She was also grandmother of the late David Allan Oliveira, great grandmother of the late David Allan DeAlmeida and sister of the late Gilbert and Herman Duarte. Her Funeral Service was held at our Fall River Chapel on Thursday, June 7, followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
