Deomar (Cordeiro) Camara, 86, of Dartmouth, formerly of Tremont Street, widow of Antonio M. Camara, died after a long illness on June 3, 2008 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Manuel & Maria (Silva) Cordeiro, she lived in Dartmouth since 2003, residing in Fall River most of her life. Employed in the local textile industry for many years, she retired as a supervisor at the former C&C Curtain in 1984 – and was a member of the ILGWU. She was also a member of St. Anthony of Padua Women's Guild and enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading. Mother of Paul M. Camara of NY, Norine Camara & Cecilia DeBalsi both of Dartmouth. Sister of Daguimar Raposo of New Bedford, Adeline Terceira of Fall River, and the late Maria Simmoes, Idalina Perreira, Manuel & Joseph Cordeiro. Also survived by 3 grandchildren, a great grandson, several nieces and nephews. Her funeral Mass was celebrated at Anthony Padua Church. Pallbearers Joseph and Hildegar Camara, Raul Morais, Nelson Mateus and Ray Mitchell brought Deomar to her final resting place at St. Patrick Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to any organization that fight child illnesses.
