Dimas L. Pereira, 85, of Fall River, husband of Maria C. (Medeiros) Pereira, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on June 7, 2019. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Jose Luis and Rosalina (Carrelas) Pereira. He worked as a laborer in the construction industry for many years prior to his retirement. He loved gardening, tending to his his grapevines, and making his own wine. He was a happy, hard-working man who was always willing to help anyone in need. An avid Porto fan, who, in his younger days, played and coached soccer and also boxed. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local 610 and an active member of Our Lady of the Light Club for many years. Dimas also enjoyed going on cruises and traveling to such places as California, Florida, Canada, and the Azores. But what was truly most important to Dimas was spending time with his loving family. Besides his wife of sixty-one years, he leaves his children, Fatima Pimentel (Jeronimo), Robert Pereira and his wife, Sonia, both of Fall River, Joseph Pereira and his wife, Samantha, of Swansea, and Carlos Pereira and his wife, Jackie, of Westport; five grandchildren, Jason Pimentel, Melissa Pereira, Katrina Pimentel, Cory Pereira, and Nicole Pereira; two brothers, Jaime Pereira (late wife, Lydia) and Miguel Pereira and his wife, Lucia, both of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jose, Manuel, Marcelino, and Luis Pereira, Rosalina Almeida, Alzira Medeiros, Lydia Carrelas, and Gilda Pereira. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, June 12th, in Espírito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
