Obituary

Dinis Anselmo, 86, of Fall River, husband of Maria (Pacheco) Anselmo, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025 in the comfort of his home following a long illness. Born in Ribeira Seca, Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Agostinho Anselmo and the late Maria (Silva) Anselmo.

After serving his country, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada in the early 1960's to play soccer for First Portuguese and he would then go on to be the proud owner of Anselmo Construction, which he successfully operated for over thirty years. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed supporting his beloved Sporting, Toronto Maple Leafs, New England Patriots and the Celtics.  He was a member of P.M.A. Our Lady of Light Society for many years and he loved gardening, cruises, and traveling with his wife to such places as Toronto, Lisbon and back to his homeland in the Azores to visit family.

Besides his devoted wife of sixty years, he leaves his loving sons, David Anselmo of Fall River and Dinis Anselmo and his wife, Nicole, of Tyngsboro, MA; his six grandchildren, Alishya, Alexis, Hannah, Ashley, Sara, and Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raulino Anselmo, Jacinto Anselmo, Manuel Anselmo, Leonore Botelho, and Fernando Anselmo.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, July 10th, in Holy Name Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
