Dinis S. Barreira, of Fall River, passed away on Wednesday September 7, 2016, at home at the age of 82. He was the husband of Josefina (Alves-Viveiros) Barreira, with whom they shared 56 years of marriage. Dinis was born in St. Antonio Helm Capelas, and was the son of the late Jacinto Sousa Barreira and Maria Conceicao (Viveiros) Barreira. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children; Dennis V. Barreira and his fiance Darlene of Fall River, M. Natalia Tavares and her husband Hildeberto (Al) of Swansea, and Isabel (Liz) Sousa and her husband Mario of Swansea; six grandchildren: Melanie Tavares, Derek Tavares, Daniel Barreira, Matthew Barreira, Amanda Diogo and Alyssa Sousa and his five great grandchildren: Riley Barreira, Mason Barreira, Cruz Thompson, Hailey Barreira and Mackenzie Barreira. Dinis also leaves his brother Jose Barreira and his wife Cidalia of Johnston, Rhode Island and his sister Maria Aguiar of Westport, Massachusetts and was the uncle to several nieces and nephews. Mr. Barreira was the brother of the late Jacinto Barreira. Mr. Barreira was a laborer in the local 610. He was a member of the Madeirense Sporting Club, Saint John's Club, Our Lady of Light Band Club and Our Lady of Light Society. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, September 13th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
