Doris (Souza) Medeiros, 88, formerly of Eastern Avenue, died Monday, at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River, following an extended illness. She was the widow of John C. Medeiros. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Medeiros and the late Anna (Martin) Souza. Employed in the garment trade for many years as a sewing machine operator at various shops in the area, she was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Doris was a communicant of Holy Cross Church of Saints Peter & Paul Parish. Family members include two children, John David Medeiros of New Bedford, MA, and Lorraine Tatzel of Fall River, a brother, Ernest Souza of Fairhaven, MA, a granddaughter, Heidi Atkinson and two great grandsons, Timothy Atkinson & Nicholas Atkinson, all of Fall River. Her Funeral Mass was offered Wednesday (9/26) in Holy Cross Church of Saints Peter & Paul Parish with committal services following at St. Patrick Cemetery.
