Doris
Mello
d. Sep 16, 2024
Doris Mello, 92, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Clifton Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Rego Costa and the late Mary (Cabral) Costa.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a sewing machine operator in the local textile industry for many years. She loved family gatherings, soap operas, and "blingy" jewelry. She also enjoyed dining out, especially at the Oriental Pearl where she would meet up regularly with the "gang", and treating herself to her favorite cream donuts from Leddy's Bakery. Most notably, Doris was a devout Catholic, possessed a strong and unwavering belief in God, and faithfully prayed the rosary daily.
She leaves her loving brother, John R. Costa (late wife, Florence) of Fall River; her great-grandson, Anthony Mello; and many admiring nieces and nephews, including Barbara Angelini who was also her devoted caregiver. She was the mother of the late John S. Mello, 3rd, grandmother of the late Dustin Mello, and sister of the late Manuel R. Costa, William R. Costa, Irene Rebello, and Claudette Dubreuil.
Her funeral was private.
