Doris M. (Medeiros) Mendes, 81, of Westport, wife of the late Joseph Mendes, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, February 2, 2020.

Doris was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and, throughout her life, also resided in Little Compton, Rhode Island, Tiverton, Rhode Island, and Westport, Massachusetts. She was a daughter of the late Charles Medeiros and the late Doris M (Hogg) Medeiros.

Doris, a twenty-five year cancer survivor, was a homemaker who loved shopping, going out to eat, but most of all, spending time with her family.

She leaves: her loving children, Pamela Arruda and her husband, Joseph, of Swansea, Richard Mendes and his wife, Sara, of Westport, and Armand J. Fortin, Jr. of Fall River. Beloved Grandmother and GG to Joshua, Tiffany, and Darius Arruda and remembered by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Hyson (late husband, Arthur) of Tiverton, Rhode Island; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Janice Fortin and sister of the late Charles Medeiros.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, February 7th, in Our Lady Of Grace Church, Westport, followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
