An accomplished violinist in her younger days, Dorothy performed as concertmistress of the Fall River Symphony Orchestra. She enjoyed membership with Tiverton Senior Citizens and was a member of STAPOCO (landowner’s association).

She is survived by: three children, Jean Eaton (husband Robert) of Glocester, RI, Beth Aguiar (husband David) of Westport, MA, and Antone J. Arruda, Jr. (wife Yvette) of Westport, MA; five grandchildren, Kyle Arruda, Joshua Aguiar (wife Jessica), Samuel Aguiar, Carlton Eaton, and Cady Theberge (husband Robert); a great grandson, Timothy Aguiar; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her son, Carlton J. Arruda; and her three sisters, Belmira Freitas, Alice Fernandes, and Evelyn Souza.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, July 16th, at St. Theresa Church in Tiverton followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dorothy’s memory to a charity of your choice.
