Dorothy M. (Mathews) Cabral, 84, of Fall River was peacefully called into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on September 30, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Paul T. Cabral, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Mathews and Maximina (Pereira) Mathews. She graduated from BMC Durfee High School in 1945, after which she attended business school and worked in various offices in the city. She later married and worked at Ventura Pharmacy with her husband for over 50 years. She had a love of learning and loved to read. She was also talented and won several awards for her nature photography. She attended Bristol Community College where she earned her paralegal certificate as well as her real estate agents license. Dorothy also worked as an agent for Belvedere Realty. Dorothy was a member of the Friends of the Fall River Public Library and an active member of the Fall River Garden Club for many years where she made many wonderful friends and held the office of Recording Secretary. After retirement Dorothy traveled extensively and enjoyed her many Caribbean cruises and trips with her family to Florida, Washington, D.C. and St Simon's Island. She also loved sunny days at Horseneck Beach. Dorothy was the mother of Paul Cabral and his wife Deborah Manchester of Westport, Dorothy Cabral of Fall River, and Natalie Cabral and husband John A. Elliott of Westport. She also leaves a beloved grandchild Tabitha. She was the sister of Priscilla Grimshaw and her companion Alan McGill Of Boca Raton, Fl and Delores and her husband Julius (Rod) Rodericks of Fall River. She also leaves two sisters-in-law Maria Goldberg and husband Ronald and Laudalina Cabral and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church. She was laid to rest at Notre Dame Cemetery.
