Obituary

Dorothy (Furtado) Pimental, 91, of Swansea, wife of the late Daniel D. Pimental, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at St. Anne's Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Jacintho Furtado and the late Edalina (Roderigues) Furtado.

Prior to her retirement she worked in the local garment industry as a Quality Control Inspector for many years. Dorothy was a hard-worker and an exceptional homemaker who very much enjoyed taking care of her home and family. As a devout Catholic, she faithfully prayed the Rosary daily. In her younger days she also loved dancing at the former Lincoln Park Ballroom where she met her late husband.  She and her late husband also enjoyed traveling to such places as Spain and Portugal. But her true passion in life was her family who she loved dearly.

She leaves: her loving son, Daniel S. Pimental and his wife, Maureen, of Hanover , MA; her grandson, Douglas Daniel Pimental and his girlfriend, Katrina; her loving sister-in-law and constant companion, Adeline "Bunny" Furtado; nieces, Jeri Sowersby and Patricia Brilliant and nephew, Carl Brilliant. She was also the sister of the late Mary Medeiros, Alice Brilliant, Irene Silva, and Manuel Furtado and aunt of the late Glen Furtado and Kenneth Silva.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a private funeral service was held on Thursday, July 2nd, in our Fall River Chapel followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Dorothy's memory to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. Being unable to do so, because of this pandemic, all are urged to express sympathy online or by mail.

To ensure that said condolences reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
