Obituary

Dorothy (Savitch) Pomprowicz, age 86, of Swansea, Massachusetts, passed away at the Somerset Ridge Center on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, following an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Pomprowicz. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Savitch and the late Delia (Yamz) Savitch, and was also the stepdaughter of the late Felix Yarmolowski. A resident of Swansea for most of her life, she was a sewing machine operator in the garment industry of Fall River for many of her younger years, and later was employed by the Swansea School Department as a cafeteria worker. An avid bowler, "Dottie", with her husband Stan, competed for many years in various leagues at the former Westport Bowlaway and also enjoyed frequent recreational bowling with her family in Westport and other local lanes. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Joyce Sirois and her husband Arthur of Swansea, a grandson Richard J. Hamm, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Connecticut, a great grandson Owen J. Hamm of Connecticut, a sister-in-law, Eileen Pomprowicz of Swansea, former son-in-law Richard J. Hamm, Sr. of Swansea, three step-grandchildren; Michael Sirois and wife Cathy of New Hampshire, Lori Grillo and husband Paul of Swansea, Tami Genereux of Swansea, seven step-great grandchildren; Michael Sirois and Melissa Sirois of New Hampshire, Aaron Grillo and Ethan Grillo of Swansea, Sara Hall of Texas, Katy Connor of Wisconsin, and Sophie Genereux of Swansea, three step-great great grandchildren; Jade Connor and Onyx Connor of Wisconsin, and Brayden Hall of Texas, her beloved friend Kathy Warish of Rehoboth, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Jason R. Hamm, and sister of the late Stanley Savitch, Joseph Savitch, Edward Savitch, Henry Savitch, Stella Paul, Jennie Spear, Irene Amaral and Millie Pomprowicz. Arrangements with the Silva-Faria Funeral Homes were private. However, relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Mass, to be offered at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Swansea, at 9:00 AM, on Saturday, July 18, 2015.
