Duarte M. Oliveira, age 65, of Norman Street in Fall River, passed away unexpectedly at St. Anne's Hospital on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. He was the husband of Ilda (Moniz) Oliveira. Born in the village of Arrifes, on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, he is the son of Hilda (Felix) Oliveira of Fall River and the late Manuel Oliveira. After residing in the Azores for 19 years, he immigrated to Fall River in 1967, and was employed for many years as a finish carpenter with the Manuel Moniz Construction Company. Duarte was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church and was a member of the Fall River Sports Club. In addition to Ilda, his wife of 41 years, and his mother, Hilda, he was the beloved father of Mark Oliveira (wife Diane) of North Dartmouth, MA, and Kevin Oliveira of Fall River, and grandfather of Marissa Oliveira and Jaden Oliveira. He also leaves a brother, Liberal Oliveira (wife Matilde) of Somerset, a sister, Fatima Moniz of Fall River, and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 15, in Santo Christo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery on Stafford Road.
