Duarte P. Viveiros, 92, of Fall River, husband of Gilda C. (Viveiros) Viveiros, passed away peacefully at the Catholic Memorial Nursing Home on Sunday, February 24, 2019 after a long illness. Born in Pilar, Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel P. and Maria DoCarmo (Pedro) DeViveiros. He was passionate about farming, working the land with his trusted and treasured work animals, especially his two oxen. He loved his Portuguese culture, making his own wine, and traveling frequently to Madeira, Fatima, and his homeland. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the trumpet for the Banda Nosso Senora da Ajuda. Besides his wife of sixty-four years, he leaves: his children, Raimuindo Viveiros and his wife Helen and Jorge Viveiros and his wife Armanda, both of New York, Duarte Viveiros and his wife Connie of North Dartmouth, Antonio Viveiros and his wife Helen of Swansea, Joao Viveiros and his wife Kimberly of Somerset, Ana Raposa and her husband Arthur and Brigida Viveiros, both of Fall River, and Odalia Oliveira and her husband Joao of the Azores; ten grandchildren, Kevin Oliveira, Derek Oliveira, Kenneth Oliveira, Steven Viveiros, Stacey Martins, Ariana Viveiros, Manuel Viveiros, Jason Viveiros, Peter Correia, and Eric Correia; eight great-grandchildren, Ava Oliveira, Logan Oliveira, Wilson Oliveira, Emily Oliveira, Brea Martins, Haven Martins, Amelia Correia, and Mia Correia; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Manuel, Joao, Antonio, Guilherme, Luis, Jose, and Henrique Viveiros, Aldina Luciano, and Gloria Viveiros. The family extends their gratitude to the staff at the Catholic Memorial Home for the compassionate care that was afforded to Duarte during his stay. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 28th, in the Catholic Memorial Home Chapel followed by his committal at Norte Dame Cemetery.
