Durval M. Teves, 75, of Swansea, husband of Judith A. (Rego) Teves, and the late Maria Grace (Costa) Teves, passed away at home on Sunday, September 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Santa Clara, St. Michael, Azores, Durval was a son of the late Jose de Teves and the late Eliza (Morias) Teves.
Durval worked as a machine operator for United Merchants. He enjoyed his morning espresso at Fall River Sports. He was an avid Benfica fan: he loved cheering on his team to victory. Durval enjoyed his evenings playing cards with his wife. Most notably, he cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Kevin Costa Teves and his wife Kristin, of Assonet, Elizabeth Costa Carreiro and her husband Joshua, of Swansea, and Nancy Costa Dodd, of Fall River, Gary Moniz and his fiancé Jessica, of Swansea, and Christi Moniz and her husband Richard, of Swansea; grandchildren, Nathaniel C. Teves, Blaize S. Teves, Alianna C. Teves, Serena E. Dodd, Elyse G. Carreiro, Elijah L. Carreiro, Andrew M. Moniz, Gary R. Moniz Jr., Julia L. Moniz, Lucas A. Moniz, and Jocelyn J. Moniz; two great-grandchildren; brother John Carlos Teves, of Tiverton, RI; and several nieces and nephews. Durval was predeceased by Edward Moniz Jr., and siblings Delmira Melo and Fransico Teves.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Calling Hours to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 9:00 am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in Espirito Santo Church at 10:00 am. Committal Service and interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
